Anti-Palestinian Racism in U.S.

Racism, hypocrisy and double standards are not new. They are not only bluntly practised in U.S. Amjad Iraqi notes, it is “telling that BDS [Boycott, divestment, and sanctions] tactics are currently being legitimized in the name of helping Jewish Israelis protect a status quo ante in which racial supremacy and military occupation were the norm, albeit wrapped in more democratic clothing; using BDS in the name of equality, freedom, and justice for Palestinians, though, is an existential threat.” Institutional racism that goes beyond censorship

The Bourgeois World and Marxism

The bourgeois world, blown up by gunpowder, will when the smoke settles and the ruins are cleared, arise again, with some modifications, as another sort of bourgeois world, because it is not yet internally exhausted and the new world is not ready to replace it. — Alexander Herzen, the father of Russian populism Marxism is a revolutionary world outlook which must always strive for new discoveries, which completely despises rigidity in once-valid theses, and whose living force is best preserved in the intellectual clash of self-criticism and the rough and tumble of history. —Rosa Luxemburg in Anti-Critique

Imperialist Hypocrisy

The interview apparently does not differentiate between ‘democratic, free world’ athletes and ‘authoritarian’ athletes.

Iraq War Anniversary

I think Dabashi should have included a couple of lines about the geopolitical and American imperialism’s objectives of the invasion and destruction of the Iraqi state. How the US media covers up war crimes

China Casts Itself as Middle East Peacemaker

“ This is the first time that China has officially brokered an international accord , and also its first involvement in the Middle East: the US has dominated this area of strategic importance for more than 70 years, despite its pivot to Asia at the start of the century. China’s success is partly due to favourable circumstances: Riyadh’s desire to assert its independence from Washington (especially after the US was slow to come to the rescue after terrorist attacks on its oil installations in 2019); and Iran’s concerns over its economic crisis as well as anti-government protests and threats of Israeli attacks on its nuclear facilities.  There is also the growing tendency of countries of the global South not to follow the West’s lead. This diplomatic initiative was driven by the need for hydrocarbons. Saudi Arabia became China’s leading supplier of oil; Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also began supplying natural gas and oil. Between 2002 and 2022, China’s foreign direct inv...

Invasion Portrayed as ‘Intelligence Failure’

Another of the BBC’s failures I would say. 20 years on and the Corporation feels it must repeat a lie. The intelligence argument is an argument that reinforces the belief among many that the invasion of Iraq was a mistake. The BBC is actually reinforces a lie. It is an argument to justify past and present British involvements in wars and conflicts: “our intention has always been the intention of a good player that supports ‘democracy’ and ‘freedoms’ all over the world.” Removing geopolitics, the political economy and American hegemony and ‘imperial’ functioning , help provide a narrow picture that reinforces the belief in the government and the ideology behind  interventions, ‘regime change’, aid, etc. The fact is that Britain is a junior player and has material and geopolitical interests with the US, the decisive power. A criminal needs an alibi . That is what happened prior the invasion of Iraq. Previous criminal actions also required alibis. Think of British support of Saddam i...
